The Heart of It: Seni Seneviratne and Mimi Khalvati Reading, Ikley Literature Festival. Festival Poet in Residence, Seni Seneviratne, introduces her second
collection, The Heart of It. Work from her debut collection, Wild Cinnamon and Winter Skin, was highly commended by the Forward Poetry Prize judges and her poem
‘Operation Cast Lead’ was shortlisted for the 2010 Arvon International Poetry Competition. Tonight she reads alongside Mimi Khalvati, founder of the Poetry School, whose
most recent book Child: New and Selected Poems is a collection of tender meditations on motherhood, domestic spaces, routines and daily rhythms. Born in Tehran, Khalvati was shortlisted for the 2007 T.S. Eliot prize
and is a visiting lecturer at Goldsmiths College.
