which suddenly becomes one you have never read,...
He makes a serious subject quite amusing. Love the imagery - quadratic equations packing their bags, memories retiring to a little fishing village etc

It's a kitchen. Its curtains fill
with a morning light so bright
you can't see beyond its windows
into the afternoon. A kitchen
falling through time with its things...
I love the imagery in this - the dishrag like a dry leaf, grandmother moving through life like a ghost.
I have a date with Su Ling Lee
We're meeting by the library
At 5 o'clock by history
I'll show her some mythology
And if we have the energy
We'll check out some theology...
So simple but clever.
Doctors inject me

scanning dusty tarmac
a boy on a swing
a boy swinging intensely
before dusk he must go
He reads this in such a way as to create the rhythm of the swing.
It is 5 am, and I am standing
in the half light bedroom
holding our son. He is finally asleep
and I lay him gently in the cot,
trying not to rattle the toy bear
attached to the bars. Next...
I think McMillan's yorkshire accent really makes this. It's interesting that he doesn't pause where I'd expect him to.
